Kibbe question answered
What Kibbe body type is hourglass?
Short answer
An hourglass figure does not equal one Kibbe body type. Hourglass describes a bust-waist-hip outline, while Kibbe evaluates the full head-to-toe composition and the clothing lines it needs. Several identities can show a defined waist or visible curve.
Hourglass and Kibbe measure different patterns
An hourglass label usually means the bust and hips read wider than a defined waist. It does not describe vertical length, shoulder openness, balance, compact scale, bone structure, or how fabric falls.
Those missing relationships are the ones which separate Kibbe identities.
Curve can appear with different dominant lines
- Soft Dramatic combines vertical with curve.
- Soft Natural combines width with curve.
- Soft Classic combines balance with curve.
- Soft Gamine combines petite with curve.
- Theatrical Romantic and Romantic are both curve-led, with different supporting qualities.
A defined waist is not enough
Waist definition can work in many wardrobes, and body measurements can change while the larger line relationships remain recognizable. Typing from waist size alone removes the evidence needed to tell the curve-related identities apart.
Look at what the outfit needs before and after waist shaping. Does it first need length, shoulder room, even proportion, compact scale, or uninterrupted curve?
How to narrow the options
Compare full outfits which hold curve constant and change the supporting line. Try a long sweeping silhouette, a relaxed open one, a balanced softly tailored one, a compact fitted one, and a fully curve-following one.
The direction which stays coherent across several garments is more useful than the hourglass label.
