Kibbe body type calculator
Upload one standing photo, head to toe if you can. The Kibbe body type calculator compares your frame with all 10 Image Identities and returns the two that fit best, so you know which pair to test in real outfits.

Find your Kibbe body type from a photo
Upload one standing photo, head to toe if you can. Fitted clothes, a plain background, and a straight-on camera give the clearest read.
Photos are processed for analysis only and aren’t stored.
How the calculator reads your photo
Two checks run on every upload. The first happens in your browser before anything is sent. A pose model finds 33 points on your body, from the nose down to the toes, and stops the upload when the photo cuts off above your hips or someone else shares the frame.
The second check reads your frame. An image model scores all 10 identities from 0 to 10 against the short descriptions below, and the two highest scores become your result. When they land within a point of each other, you see both as a close call, because that is where repeat runs disagreed most in testing.
| Identity | What the calculator looks for |
|---|---|
| Dramatic | A long line with narrow, sharply angular bones and no softness |
| Soft Dramatic | A long line and a large frame with lush, rounded curves |
| Flamboyant Natural | A long line with broad, blunt width and straight wide shoulders |
| Soft Natural | Slight blunt width with rounded softness, at a moderate or compact length |
| Dramatic Classic | Moderate, symmetrical proportions with a crisp, slightly sharp edge |
| Soft Classic | Moderate, symmetrical proportions with gentle softness |
| Flamboyant Gamine | Compact scale that mixes sharp and broad, in short broken sections |
| Soft Gamine | Compact scale with curve and a little sharpness |
| Theatrical Romantic | A curve-led frame, compact to moderate, with small delicate sharp edges |
| Romantic | Rounded softness throughout and a defined waist, at a small to moderate scale |
Take a photo the calculator can read
You don't need to enter your height. A photo has no scale, so the calculator judges length and scale from your own proportions. Height adds evidence, but two people of the same height can still read differently.
- Stand straight with your arms a hand's width from your sides, so the waist outline stays visible.
- Fitted clothes help most. An oversized coat hides the shoulder line.
- Hold the camera at chest height. A low camera stretches the legs and makes your line read longer than it is.
- Pick a plain wall with even light.
What one photo can't settle
One photo is one angle in one outfit. Posture and fabric shift what the image model sees, and so does the lens, so treat the result as the first identity to test.
The next closest match deserves as much attention as the top one. Most people sit between two neighbors, and wearing one outfit from each settles more than a second photo will.
Frequently asked questions
Can you find your Kibbe body type from a photo?
Partly. A head-to-toe photo shows vertical line, width, and curve well enough to narrow 10 identities down to two. It can't show how fabric moves on you, so wear an outfit from each before you settle.
Do I need to enter my height?
No. The calculator judges length and scale from your own proportions. If your height and the result disagree, the second match is the first place to look.
Is my photo stored?
No. The full-body check runs in your browser. The cropped photo is processed for the analysis only and isn't stored.
Is this an official Kibbe typing?
No. Face Shape ID isn't affiliated with David Kibbe. The calculator is an educational tool that uses his 10 current Image Identities as its reference points.
